The celebrity masquerade is entering a new round: In the ProSieben guessing show “The Masked Singer” the first participant has to go – and reveal the true identity behind the rhino costume.

Pascal Hens was the first prominent participant to be voted out of the new season of the ProSieben show “The Masked Singer”. The former handball professional was behind the mask of a rhinoceros with an Italo-macho style. “I bet on the wrong horse,” said Hens about his choice of performance immediately after the unmasking. And he regretted that he couldn’t be there next week: “I wanted to rap.” He still had “a lot of fun” taking part in the eleventh season.

In a show-off of five of the ten masked celebrities, 44-year-old Hens received the fewest votes from the audience and had to remove the rhino head at the end of the show.

In the live show “The Masked Singer” celebrities appear as singers, but hide their true identities behind elaborate costumes. Only her voice and mysterious clues give any idea who is on stage. They will be exposed if they get too few votes from the audience – or if they end up winning the final.

Jury guess: at least a handball player

The opening program had something new in store: there is not only a competition on stage, but also a jury duel. In all six episodes, presenter Palina Rojinski and singer Rea Garvey puzzle over the true identities of the masked singers against a celebrity duo with a changing cast. In the first broadcast, her opponents were singer Yvonne Catterfeld and singer Kamrad, both of whom are also on the jury for this year’s edition of the ProSieben show “The Voice of Germany”.

Garvey and Rojinski were almost right: they guessed ex-handball player Stefan Kretschmer. Among the viewers who were able to vote live via the app, the name Pascal Hens was mentioned second most often.

The show “The Masked Singer” is known for its great, sometimes even spectacular costumes – and this time the makers don’t disappoint either. In particular, the jellyfish’s glow-in-the-dark, glittering and flowing costume was particularly impressive – and not only that. Her strong voice even impressed the professional musicians on the jury and Rea Garvey leaned far out of the window: “That’s a Kelly” (the singing one Kelly Family), he made up his mind.

On the other hand, the blue plush monster had to worry: Willy W. was the loser of the two-way duel with the locomotive – who the jury is convinced is a well-trained professional singer. The monster therefore had to go into another round of voting with the rhino, who was later revealed, and who also lost out in his duel with the great jellyfish and the cheerful “Lady Pineapple”.

Willy W. sang the love song “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You” – not particularly well, but with heart and self-confidence. The first clue to his identity is a pair of glasses. But you shouldn’t give up on him yet: “It could be that Willy W. will come up with even more treasures and now he’s just fooling everyone,” speculated jury member Rojinski.

Things continue this evening on ProSieben and Joyn – with the start of five more masked celebrities in the competition. Below: a snowman and a leek. The final is scheduled for December 21st.
