Runoff in Uruguay: the counting of votes begins in an election that anticipates a close result

The voting centers closed at 7:30 p.m., after a day that began at 8 a.m. and passed normally, within the framework of the runoff 2024that will decide who will be the next president: Yamandu Orsi either Alvaro Delgado.

With more than 2.7 million Uruguayans enabled in 7,225 electoral circuits, citizens have already cast their vote and the counting of votes begins on a night that is expected to be long and whose results may be delayed.

In a day that passed normally and with greater fluidity in the voting, as a result of the smaller number of ballots, citizens defined their vote and we will have to wait for the results of a provisional count that may not be decisive if there is a very small difference between both candidates.
