In an interview, Sebastian Vettel spoke not only about his children, but also about retraining in agriculture.
Will the four-time Formula 1 world champion soon be behind the wheel of a tractor? In any case, Sebastian Vettel (37) is currently completing “training in the field of agriculture”. The former racing driver revealed this. However, the Heppenheim native did not say exactly what training occupation it was about. He only acknowledged that he was “not quite” a farmer after graduation. But it is a “compressed form” of training. After that, he could run his own business, said Vettel. “This world fascinates me,” he said to RTL.
Sebastian Vettel reported on RTL that he “somehow slipped into” farming. He has been living with his family in a farmhouse in Ellighausen in the canton of Thurgau, his adopted home of Switzerland, for a long time.
“Extremely exciting about the future of agriculture”
“I find it extremely exciting when it comes to the future of agriculture,” Sebastian Vettel told RTL. He is interested in how she deals with the challenges of climate change. He has been committed to environmental protection and sustainability for some time. He has already warned Formula 1 to reduce its ecological footprint.
His training is only part-time, so Sebastian Vettel has enough time for his family. He also needs them because “there’s a lot to do with the three kids anyway,” he revealed to RTL. Vettel has three children with his wife Hanna (37). His daughters Emilie and Matilda were born in 2014 and 2015, followed in 2019 by a son whose name he has not yet revealed to the public.
Sebastian Vettel doesn’t want to push children into motorsport
He doesn’t want to push his offspring to pursue a career in motorsport. “My wish for the children is that they find something that motivates them,” he said. So far, the kids have not shown any ambition for racing, except for the games console. He doesn’t want to keep social media away from his children, even if they are only slowly getting to the age where Instagram and the like become important.
Sebastian Vettel ended his career in Formula 1 in 2022. Since then, the athlete has been involved in sailing, among other things. He supports the German team led by two-time Olympic bronze medalist Erik Heil.
Two years ago, Vettel was still thinking about starting an apprenticeship as a carpenter. This now seems to be off the table in favor of other training.
