The presenter has been part of “Tagesthemen” since 2021, most recently on a maternity break. Now she wants to take a different career path, as Abboud announced on Instagram.
Aline Abboud, previously the “Tagesthemen” presenter, does not want to return to the news program after her parental leave. “After my maternity leave, I decided not to return to the daily topics for private reasons, as my family and I have moved our center of life to Berlin,” the 36-year-old wrote on Instagram.
Abboud has been sidelined since January. “I look back on exciting years at Tagesthemen with many great colleagues.” In the post she also mentions her autobiographical book, which will be published by Ullstein Verlag in early January. “Barefoot in Teta’s Garden. Berlin, my Lebanon and I” is scheduled to be released on January 2nd.
Abboud, born in Berlin, is the daughter of a Lebanese father and an East Berliner mother. From an early age, she spent her summer holidays with her grandparents and her 15 cousins in Lebanon, writes the publisher. In the book she embarks on “a very personal search for her roots, and at the same time enables a different view of Lebanon and its history.”
The main presenters of the ARD “Tagesthemen” are Ingo Zamperoni and Jessy Wellmer. Abboud has been part of the show since 2021.
