Aline Abboud (36) is breaking new ground professionally. The presenter and news anchor has announced that she will not be returning to “Tagesthemen” from her maternity leave. the “news on our own behalf”. In addition, Abboud is publishing a wide variety of recordings relating to the “daily topics” that she has been leading through since September 2021 – including some small insights behind the scenes.
Aline Abboud: No return “for private reasons”
“Dear everyone, after my maternity leave I decided not to return to ‘Tagesthemen’ for personal reasons, as my family and I have moved our center of life to Berlin,” she explains the step. “I look back on exciting years at ‘Tagesthemen’ with many great colleagues. […] Now I’m really looking forward to everything that comes!”
A new project from Abboud is already in the works; she has swapped the camera for a keyboard. In the Instagram post she advertises her upcoming book: “Barefoot in Teta’s Garden – Berlin, My Lebanon and Me”. This is due to be published in a few weeks, on January 2nd, 2025, via Ullstein book publishers.
The NDR made it public in January that the “Tagesthemen” presenter was now on maternity leave. Abboud announced her pregnancy. “The only night shift I’m looking forward to,” she wrote alongside a photo in which she posed with a baby bump. Now she will swap the “Daily Topics” table with the changing table, she said on January 7th in her last broadcast.
