Elton John says he has been losing sight in one eye since an infection in the summer. What does this mean for his work?
British pop star Elton John says he has no vision in his right eye since an eye infection in July – but is hoping things will get better. “It kind of blew me away and I can’t see anything anymore,” said the 77-year-old on the US talk show “Good Morning America.” His left eye is “not the best either.” Therefore, he can currently “no longer read or watch anything.”
His eye problem also prevented him from working as a musician, John said. “There is hope and encouragement that things will work out.” But at the moment it’s kind of stuck.
John said he got the eye infection in the south of France in the summer. The pop legend (“Rocket Man”) announced on Instagram in September that his vision had been restricted since the infection.
The singer can currently be seen in his documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late.” The film, directed by John’s husband David Furnish, provides insight into the musician’s life.
