Because Thomas Gottschalk made fun of Maite Kelly’s character, his “Supernose” podcast will no longer be continued.
He went too far with this “joke”: Thomas Gottschalk (74) railed against Maite Kelly (44) in his podcast “Die Supernasen” and now has to face the consequences. As RTL confirmed to the news agency spot on news, the podcast with Mike Krüger (72) will end at the end of the year.
The actor duo from the film “Die Supernasen” (1983) decided to end their podcast of the same name on RTL+ after a year and a half. Accordingly, two more episodes will be broadcast: on December 17th and December 31st.
This “joke” didn’t go over well at all
When he spoke to his long-time actor colleague a few days ago about his upcoming appearance in the Christmas show “The Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights”, the former “Wetten, dass…?” host joked: “I’ll probably have to push Maite Kelly aside to do that you see me.” The 74-year-old was probably alluding to the singer’s weight. The misogynistic statement about the musician, who won’t even be part of the Florian Silbereisen show, immediately became a media sensation.
Gottschalk once again reacted with incomprehension of the criticism. The 74-year-old confirmed that his statement was neither “misogynistic” nor “malicious.” “But it was undoubtedly a gag that came at Maite’s expense,” he admitted. “I think I did enough of it on my own in order to be able to afford it at my age, not to let Maite get away scot-free. Nobody knows that better than she herself, because she is at least old enough to have heard the saying: ‘If you love yourself, you tease yourself.'” He had, after all, “assured Kelly of eternal affection several times.”
