The expectations of the tourism sector Punta del Este They are very high. “The reservation numbers already indicate that it will be a good season. After several years of suffering with the exchange rate gap, this year there are very good expectations in the sector and Argentines are going to spend the summer in Uruguay again,” said Marina Cantero, president of the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism (CAMTUR). “There has already been a lot of movement during the weekends of November and everything indicates that Argentines are going to be arriving before the holidays,” said Cantero.

Punta del Este, with more accessible prices for Argentines
The reduction of the exchange gap and the elimination of the COUNTRY tax in December, positions Uruguay as a more attractive destination for Argentines compared to previous years. This is evidenced by an increase in booking levels for the season, even for months not as popular as February and March.
Added to this, with a stable dollar and prices still rising in Argentina, many choose to spend the summer in Uruguay or Brazil where they can get some more convenient prices.
How much do summer rentals cost?
“There are many queries for rent for a few months now. The first half of January is almost complete, there is very little left available to rent“said Javier Sena, president of the Real Estate Chamber of Punta del Este. “The most premium ones were rented and houses with pools are difficult because there is little left. As for serviced apartments, there is some available but it is not much. We see that it is going to be a pretty good season,” Sena highlighted.
Although prices depend on the type of property and location, you can have a reference since they are similar to those of the previous season. For example, renting a three-bedroom apartment in the La Brava or La Mansa area can cost between US$3,500 and US$4,000 in the first half of January. As for a house, it already amounts to US$7,000 or US$8,000, although it depends on the property, since they can also exceed US$15,000. These are prices similar to the most premium spas in Argentina, such as Cariló and Pinamar.
