The new film “Better Man” tells the life of the British pop star. Williams tells the BBC why he is shown as a chimpanzee – and why he finds it difficult to watch the scenes about Nicole Appleton.
Pop star Robbie Williams (50) now looks differently at his former relationship with musician Nicole Appleton (49). In an interview with the British broadcaster BBC, he spoke about the new film “Better Man”, which takes up his life story. He was asked what his favorite scenes were and how emotional it was watching the film.
It depends on how he’s feeling and how much sleep he’s gotten, Williams said. The parts about Nicky Appleton are the hardest to watch. Because everyone else in the film was evil in some way in his life. “And she’s the only person who hasn’t harmed me.”
“She didn’t deserve this”
“When I saw that, I was ashamed that I was her idiot boyfriend back then. She didn’t deserve that, she’s a good person,” Williams said. The musician and the All Saints singer were in a relationship in the late 1990s. The relationship failed.
In the film “Better Man,” Williams is portrayed as a computer-generated monkey. He loves eccentricity, the unusual and the surreal, said Williams. The idea made perfect sense to him. The film probably wouldn’t be talked about as much if it weren’t for the monkey, said Williams, who became famous with the boy band Take That. “Better Man – The Robbie Williams Story” is scheduled to hit German cinemas on January 2, 2025.
