The story follows the life of Charliean English teacher who lives locked in his apartment in Idaho because of his morbid obesity. With his camera always off during the online classes he teaches, he avoids showing his appearance to the world. His health, deteriorated to the extreme, puts at risk his lifewhile her friend and nurse Liz urges him to seek medical help.
Isolated from the world and consumed by blameCharlie seeks one last chance to make amends for his past. He tries to reconnect with his teenage daughter, elliewith whom he lost contact eight years ago. His plan to get closer to her includes offering her his inheritance, hoping this will mend their fractured relationship.
