Robbie Williams and Ayda Field joke at the premiere of his biopic “Better Man” in London on Wednesday.
Robbie Williams (50) attended the premiere of his biopic “Better Man” in Leicester Square in London on Wednesday. He was accompanied by his wife Ayda Field (45), with whom he posed in a good mood on the red carpet. The music star arrived at the event in a gray striped suit with silver detailing on the shoulders. His wife cut a glamorous figure in a black figure-hugging dress with a glittery collar. The long hair was half pinned back.
Ex-girlfriend Nicole Appleton as a premiere guest
Robbie’s ex-girlfriend Nicole Appleton (49) was also present at the premiere in a red, short-sleeved dress with a high collar. The All Saints star wore her blonde, shoulder-length hair down. She completed her look with a red clutch bag. Williams and Appleton dated in the 1990s. In the film she is played by Raechelle Banno (31).
In her 2002 autobiography “Together,” Appleton recounted how she became pregnant with Robbie’s baby but had an abortion under pressure from the record company. She described his reaction to her pregnancy: “Robbie Williams put his hand on my stomach and told me, ‘This baby is saving my life.'” Williams supported his ex’s decision to write about the abortion in her autobiography, but later conceded to the British daily that he was “torn” to experience this again.
Many other celebrities also didn’t miss the premiere. Present were, among others, presenter Holly Willoughby (43), presenter Lisa Snowdon (52) and actor Andy Serkis (60).
Robbie Williams’ parents are very ill
The premiere was overshadowed by Robbie Williams’ mother Janet’s dementia diagnosis, which he made public shortly beforehand. When asked what his parents think about the film, “My mother currently has dementia – like my grandma in the film – and my father has Parkinson’s and can’t get out of bed. So I’m in a different part right now of my life.” He made his Parkinson’s diagnosis public four years ago.
That’s what “Better Man” is about
The official synopsis reads: “‘Better Man’ is based on the true story of the meteoric rise, dramatic fall and remarkable resurgence of British pop superstar Robbie Williams, one of the greatest entertainers of all time.”
Directed by Michael Gracey (“Greatest Showman”), the film is told from Williams’ perspective, from childhood to being the youngest member of the boy band Take That to his unprecedented success as a solo artist. The film captures “his distinctive wit and indomitable spirit” and shows the “challenges that stratospheric fame and success can bring.”
The British singer is portrayed in the film by actor Jonno Davies (32) in the form of a monkey. While Davies takes on the role of the younger Robbie, the singer can be heard in voiceover and later plays the older version of himself.
Robbie Williams has been working on “Better Man” since 2021 – the film is scheduled to hit German cinemas on January 2nd.
