Marius Borg Høiby: Chat logs show his true face

No regrets
Newly published chat messages show Marius Borg Høiby’s true face

After a week in custody, Marius Borg Høiby is free again. As newly published chats prove, Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s son shows no remorse.

The mood in Norway is changing after Marius Borg Høiby, Mette-Marit’s son, was arrested for the third time this year. The 27-year-old was released from custody on Wednesday. There are several allegations of rape against him. And yet Borg Høiby seems to show no remorse.

Marius Borg Høiby: New chat histories appeared

This is suggested by private chat messages published by the magazine “Se og Hør”. As the newspaper explains, the messages are conversations between Norwegian criminals, some of whom are known to the police and who are said to include the Crown Princess’ son. Around 50 people are part of the group and Marius is also always active with postings.

A message from one of the members refers to the attack by Mette-Marit’s son against a woman at the beginning of August. Borg Høiby attacked her in her apartment in Oslo and stabbed the apartment wall with a kitchen knife. He later admitted the incident himself and spoke of a cocaine addiction and mental problems. “XXX (name redacted, editor) called and said he wanted his knife back!” joked one of the chat group members. Marius himself then replied: “Be careful, I’m not a wife beater. I never married. At least.” Words that could reduce his rueful-sounding statement from August to absurdity. “Last weekend something happened that should never have happened,” he explained at the time. “I committed bodily harm and destroyed objects in an apartment.”

He “shows no remorse”

The friends from the chat repeatedly pick up on current headlines in the Norwegian press. When it speculated what had happened to Borg Høiby’s money, one wrote that his assets had been “pulverized.” “I like the play on words,” replied the accused himself, alluding to his cocaine consumption. Not the only reference to drugs. In response to his message in the chat that he needed Valium to relax, a man replied: “We can tolerate a little more.”

In the same chat a few weeks ago, a photo of the 27-year-old was received showing him posing with a crate of beer. Grinning broadly, he holds his middle finger up to the camera. Seen next to him: the magazine “Se og Hør”, which had the headline at the time that Marius showed no remorse.
