3rd round of the TV show: Unmasked on “Masked Singer”: Who is behind the pineapple?

Actress and cabaret artist Maren Kroymann was eliminated in the third round of the ProSieben show “The Masked Singer”. The 75-year-old Grimme Prize winner was behind the mask of a lively and colorful pineapple figure.

After the unmasking, she raved about her two appearances: “That was so, so great,” said Kroymann in the aftershow. “I’m happy that I can be part of such a universe, it’s a world of its own.” However, it was also a challenge to perform with this elaborate mask. “I’ve reached my limits.” She hasn’t sung live on TV for 50 years.

In the live show “The Masked Singer” celebrities appear as singers, but they cannot be recognized because of their elaborate costumes. Only her voice and mysterious clues give any idea who is on stage. Whoever gets too few votes from the audience is exposed – or who wins the final in the end.

There is a competition within a competition: every week, presenter Palina Rojinski and singer Rea Garvey puzzle together against a changing celebrity duo about the true identities of the masked singers. This time the opponents were Alec Völkel and Sascha Vollmer from the band The BossHoss.

Both teams were wrong at the end of voting. Moderator Palina Rojinski and singer Rea Garvey had guessed that underneath the pineapple costume was a “TV royalty, one of the most famous faces in Germany”: news anchor Susanne Daubner.

For BossHoss, the pineapple was “the hardest nut to crack today.” They appeared clueless and, when asked, guessed Lets Dance juror Jorge Gonzales. The unmasked pineapple was happy: “You were so clueless, it was a joy to see that,” said Kroymann.

Former handball professional Pascal Hens and TV presenter Madita van Hülsen in a leek costume have already been eliminated with the character “The Rhino”. It continues with seven remaining singers on Saturday, December 7th, from 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben and Joyn. The final is scheduled for December 21st.
