In an interview, Barbara Schöneberger describes herself as a full-time family man – and surprises with her political ambitions.
On November 28th, star entertainer Barbara Schöneberger (50) moderated the award ceremony for the “German Daycare Award 2024” in Berlin. In a subsequent interview, she spoke about her own experiences as a mother of two – and her dreams of influential political office.
Moderator overwhelmed when registering for a daycare center
She initially admitted that she was a little overwhelmed when registering her own children for daycare. She said: “I was also dependent on a good daycare center. And by the way, I almost didn’t make it to a daycare center with my children because I didn’t know that you first have to submit an application to the Citizens’ Office to apply for the voucher I almost failed at the first hurdle.”
As a mother, she always relied on her inner voice and never read any parenting guides. “I always saw a clear line as to where the journey should go and pulled together with all family members,” said Schöneberger. “Our family is very large, so everyone helps raise them in some way. Everyone contributes something to ensure that the children get as big a picture of the world as possible.”
Full-time “mother, family man and wife”
A good relationship with her offspring is the most important thing in the world to her. “There are many families where the parents have little contact with their children or vice versa,” she explained. “That would be a total failure for me. Millions in the account and prizes in the closet don’t count.” For her, her job as an entertainer is just a kind of hobby; she sees her real job as “being a mother, a family man and a wife.”
“I would be great as Federal President!”
In order to make the world a little better for her children, she wouldn’t rule out going into politics. She enthusiastically explained: “I am ideally suited to be a representative Federal President. I would like to have a very representative role without having to deal too much with politics. I think that is very annoying. But representing the country as a young democrat is colorful Traveling the world – I could do that very well.” Schöneberger is sure: “I would be great as Federal President!”
If she is not given this position after the interview, she would take over the Ministry for Families, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. “All the problems are under one roof,” said the moderator. “I would be interested in that. I could get involved in education, in integration, that would appeal to me.”
