Lily Allen: First sober sex with her husband

Lily Allen (39) has spoken several times in the past about the fact that she struggled with addiction problems for a long time in her life. “I’m surprised I’m not dead,” she said in 2019. The British singer explained that the music industry was “a hedonistic place” in the 2000s. “It was all about having fun and having fun.” However, she has been battling addiction for years.

“I chose sex over heroin,” she said five years ago. “I didn’t realize back then that addiction can manifest itself in many ways. You use substances or sex to put a Band-Aid on something else, like pain or fear.” Today she says: “In my family, addiction is deeply rooted.” She has been sober for more than half a decade now.

The singer has two daughters from a divorced marriage to Sam Cooper, and she has been married to the US actor and “Stranger Things” star David Harbor (49) since 2020. “I know what I have to lose if I start drinking again,” she said in April in , which she has with her friend Miquita Oliver (40). “My children feel safe,” she says now. “That’s the most important thing for me. I felt very insecure growing up, and my children feel safe.”

Allen also talks about how her sex life has changed since she got sober. “I don’t think I’ve ever had sex with someone without being drunk before I got together with them,” she says. Intimate moments are completely different, they are “conscious and real”. Harbour, who himself struggled with addiction issues when he was younger, has “a lot of experience with it,” which has been helpful.

In the summer, Allen told how her now-husband seduced her. “We dated a few times,” she recalled on her podcast in July. “We went out to dinner a few times and the third time I went out with him we went to the theater to see the Lehman trilogy. […] I think it was in the first part of the piece, the first third, when he just grabbed my hand and started stroking it – almost like his hand was sleeping with mine.” Harbor whispered in her ear, “Let’s just Get out of here?”
