His wife Annika surprised Heinz Hoenig with a Christmas tree on the first Advent – the actor was moved to tears.
It’s the little things that are particularly touching after difficult times. This became clear to actor Heinz Hoenig (73) on the first Advent when his wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig (39) gave him a very special surprise. While he was taking a nap, she secretly put up a 7-foot-tall Christmas tree in the living room.
“Heinzi is currently taking a siesta and when he wakes up afterwards, then: surprise, surprise!”, she announced the campaign in an Instagram story. She and a friend decorated the Christmas tree with musical accompaniment from the Rolling Stones. It was decorated with red and gold balls and garlands, stars and a special highlight: “The most beautiful thing about the tree, here, look, this is a guardian angel,” she said in an Instagram story, zooming in on the white angel.
Heinz Hoenig cries with emotion
When she then pushed her husband in the wheelchair into the living room with his eyes closed and then had him open his eyes, the emotion was great. The 73-year-old immediately covered his face with his hands and couldn’t hold back his tears.
After an almost six-month stay in hospital, Heinz Hoenig was only allowed to return home in September. Since then he has been cared for by his wife. The former jungle camp star is still waiting for a second, vital operation, for which he is currently too weak. Nevertheless, the Hoenigs are not discouraged. “This Christmas will be very special,” Annika is sure. The loving surprise for the first Advent was the perfect start.
Heinz Hoenig became known for films and multi-part series such as “Das Boot” (1981), “Der Schattenmann” (1996) and “Der König von St. Pauli” (1998). He has been married to Annika Kärsten-Hoenig since 2019. Their two sons were born in 2020 and 2022. He has a daughter (born 1988) and his eldest son (born 1990) from his first marriage.
