The nude scene was her own idea

“The Wolf of Wall Street” was Margot Robbie’s first major role. She was promptly seen naked in the film – but that’s exactly how she wanted it.
Margot Robbie (34) spoke about her nude scene in the film “The Wolf of Wall Street”. In the conversation with Ben Mankiewicz (57), she explained that the revealing scene was entirely her idea.
Director Martin Scorsese (81) even offered to put a bathrobe over her during the full-body scene if she felt uncomfortable. But the actress wanted to embody her film character in the best possible way and therefore insisted on nudity. “That’s not what she would do in this scene. The point is that she’s going to be completely naked – that’s the card she’s playing right now,” Robbie explained of her decision for her role. In “The Wolf of Wall Street” she embodies Naomi Lapaglia, the tough wife of criminal Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio (50).
The engagement in the 2013 Hollywood film was the first really big role for Margot Robbie. She was in her early 20s at the time and, in her youthful recklessness, she didn’t even think about the nude scene that “everyone would see it.”
Improvisation during casting
Even the casting for “The Wolf of Wall Street” left her with her own ideas, Robbie recalled in the podcast. She already improvised during the audition with Leonardo DiCaprio and slapped him in the face at the end of a scene instead of kissing him.
“I thought, ‘I could kiss Leonardo DiCaprio right now and that would be amazing. I can’t wait to tell all my friends.’ And then I thought: No. And just hit him in the face,” said the “Barbie” actress. Those responsible really liked her emotional outburst – but she had a lot of doubts about herself afterwards: “I just thought: ‘I’m going to be arrested, I’m pretty sure this is assault. Not only will you never work again, you You’ll even go to prison, you idiot.'”
Wrongfully so, because “The Wolf of Wall Street” was the Australian’s big breakthrough. Since then she has appeared in numerous Hollywood productions, including “Suicide Squad” and “I, Tonya”. In 2019 she starred again alongside DiCaprio in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”.
