Dramatic emergency operation after a scooter accident
“Who’s the Boss?” star Danny Pintauro ended up in the hospital after an accident on Thanksgiving. He had emergency surgery.
Former “Who’s the Boss?” actor Danny Pintauro (48) had to undergo emergency surgery after a scooter accident. He reported from the hospital with photos, videos and a statement.
Blood infection after tear in the stomach lining
Pintauro explained in the post on his Instagram page that the accident happened on the evening of Thanksgiving (November 28), but his symptoms worsened the next day. “The cycle path I was riding on was suddenly closed with cones and I had to choose between a van and a cone. The cone hurts! I have a terrible scratch on my arm and was pretty convinced I had broken my arm .” Then when he developed severe pain in his chest, stomach and shoulder, which made it difficult for him to breathe, his husband took him to the hospital. There it was discovered that he had contracted a blood infection due to a tear in the lining of his stomach.
“It was the worst moment of my life,” Pintauro wrote alongside footage showing him in a hospital bed on IVs and breathing tubes. “It was the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life.”
He shared that he underwent emergency surgery overnight, which “went well” and relieved his pain. Nurses and doctors extubated him after the procedure. He continued: “They always said that, but it’s really true: If I had waited any longer, I would have died. My body was the one that told me something was absolutely wrong. My wonderful husband Wil drove me here and was the one By my side the whole time.”
Pintauro thanked the doctors, nurses and surgeon who performed his operation. They were all “wonderful,” he wrote. “This is my first major operation, the very first emergency operation ever, but I pulled myself together. It was absolutely terrible.” Luckily, he added humorously, his arm wasn’t broken after all.
He was a child star
As a child, the actor played the role of Jonathan Bower in the popular television sitcom “Who’s the Boss?” from 1984 to 1992. with Tony Danza (73), Judith Light (75) and Alyssa Milano (51). More recently, Pintauro appeared in “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and the television film “A Country Christmas Harmony.” He has been married to Wil Tabares since 2014.
