“Tatort” detectives Ballauf and Schenk are investigating a new case in a milieu where one expects googly eyes rather than crime stories. A famous comedian is in the middle of it all.
The actor and comedian Max Giermann takes on a dazzling role for a new case by the Cologne “Tatort” team. The 49-year-old (“Switch Reloaded”) – known for his talent for transformation – plays the star of a children’s program, behind the scenes of which inspectors Ballauf (Klaus J. Behrendt) and Schenk (Dietmar Bär) will investigate, as WDR explained.
Filming for the new episode has already begun – Giermann appeared in front of the camera on Tuesday in a colorful children’s television outfit. A broadcast is planned for 2026.
The content: Giermann plays a fictional children’s television star named Frank Anders. Generations of children have grown up with his show “Things and Laughter,” according to the plot of the crime thriller. But then a cameraman is found murdered in the trunk of a burned-out car.
Ballauf and Schenk set out to shed light on the connections behind the cult show for the little ones – and realize that things are “not as harmonious there as on the screen,” as WDR tellingly announces.
Almost 100 cases for Ballauf and Schenk
The “Tatort”, which is currently under the title “Alles Anders”, is scheduled to be filmed in Cologne and the surrounding area until mid-December. For Ballauf and Schenk it is the 95th case. Among others, Joe Bausch will be there again as forensic doctor Dr. Joseph Roth.
