Government declared an agricultural emergency for Santa Fe due to drought

The decision was made based on the recommendation made by the National Commission for Agricultural Emergencies and Disasters, which analyzed the situation and scope of the water deficit in the productive areas of the northern province.

The Minister of Economy, Luis Caputosigned Resolution 1297/2024 that declares an agricultural emergency for Santa Fe, following the analysis and recommendation provided by the National Commission for Agricultural Emergencies and Disasters (CNEyDA), based on the intensification of the drought in the north of the province.

Within the framework of the last meeting of the CNEyDA, chaired by the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Sergio Iraeta, the director of Crisis and Agricultural Assistance, Mariano Quesada, carried out an evaluation of indicators and maps that accounted for thehe evolution of the drought in the province during the winter months, with a strong impact on the region.

On the occasion, the representatives of the affected province also spoke, and the Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock of Santa Fe, Ignacio Mantaras, presented the declaratory standard for treatment by the Commission and explained the impacts and agricultural losses that they caused in the territory.

Thus, in analysis of the Provincial Decree of Santa Fe No. 1,936, of October 16, 2024, The state of emergency and/or agricultural disaster was declaredas appropriate, from September 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025, to agricultural farms affected by drought, in the entire departments of 9 de Julio, Vera, General Obligado and San Cristóbal de la Provincia .

In addition, the stable members of the CNEyDA representing their organizations, INTA; the national portfolios of the Interior and Economy; the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARK); the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) and the Bank of the Argentine Nation (BNA); the National Weather Service (SMN); agricultural entities, and other provincial technical representatives.
