The mayor of La Plata, Julio Alak, presented the exhibition ”La Plata, capital of light”, which will be open to the public soon.
He Desa Group and Edelap inaugurated the renovation of their headquarters in the historic building now called ”Edward Wilde”located on 5th Street and Diagonal 80, The Silver. The presentation included a total restoration of its ground floorrescuing an area of heritage memory 142 years after the founding of the capital of Buenos Aires.

Julio Alakmayor of La Plata, was present along with the director of the DESA Group, Marcelo Diez; and Gaston GhioniUndersecretary of Energy of the Province, presenting the exhibition ”La Plata, capital of light”which will be open to the public soon. The same testifies to thebirth and development of an avant-garde cityerected in 1882 on the deserted pampas plain, daughter of modernity, pioneer in having electric lighting in Latin America.


The exhibition was carried out under the curatorship of Fabio Grementieri and Teresa Anchorenawho highlighted that “it tells the story of La Plata as a city of innovation, invention, avant-garde, which is what it marked since its creation and is still valid.” In addition, they had the collaboration of experts from La Plata and displayed a visual, documentary and cartographic tour that includes mockups designed in 3D –scale reproductions of the buildings of the founding axis– thus articulating monumentality, dimension and perspective.

Tribute to Dr. Eduardo Wilde
The building is named after Dr. Wilde in tribute to the doctor, journalist, writer and intellectual of the Generation of 80Minister of the Interior of the Nation, an eminent hygienist – noted for his role in the fight against yellow fever – who as such influenced the innovative conception of La Plata, participated in the laying of its foundation stone and closely followed its development.
The intervention of the internal patio of the central hall through a mural made by the artist Pablo Tricaricofrom the Scenography workshop of the Teatro Colón, completes and enhances the enhancement of this 1927 construction and the entire current cultural space destined to be consolidated as the City Interpretation Center, open to the community.
At the same time, Edelap is also preparing the upcoming inauguration of an exclusive service building on Calle 13 between 32 and 33, suitable for greater proximity to the user, as well as the possibility of providing personalized responses within the framework of a modern, spacious, functional environment. , accessible and well connected.
The opening of the headquarters confirms the business group’s decision to move the holding company’s offices to the historic building on diagonal 80 in La Plata. The Desa team, made up of 3,300 people, operates, maintains and expands 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, a service that reaches more than 5.7 million inhabitants in 400 locations in the country, annually distributing 13,177 GWh of electrical energy through more than 67,000 km of networks.
