How to avoid scams with the $20,000 bill

In order to avoid possible forgeries and fraud In the highest denomination banknotes of Argentina, attention should be paid to a series of points:

On the left side of the obverse, before the light due to transparency or backlighting, the image of Alberdi and his initials JBA is reproduced in a light tone, without losing the wide range due to being a multitonal bill.

It is located between Alberdi’s image and the watermark, consisting of a vertical blue stripe, and against the light it is seen as a continuous band with the acronym BCRA of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic.

  • Optical variability ink

It is another point to take into account according to the Scientific Police. In the upper right corner is the symbolic representation of the National Constitution, changing from magenta to green when the bill is tilted, presenting a three-dimensional effect. Below on the right, always on the obverse, is the latent image, in which when looking at the bill with oblique light the letters RA appear.

In addition, there is a complementary motif on the front and back, that is, it can be seen from both sides, in the lower left corner, in which the figure 20,000 is formed through backlight.

For people who are blind or visually impaired, a raised code is felt by touch on the vertical edges of the bill. Under ultraviolet light, just as the letters BCRA are visible on the obverse, a green stripe is visible on the reverse.
