Bob Dylan’s praise for Timothée Chalamet, star of the biographical film “A Complete Stranger”

Chalamet plays the legendary singer-songwriter in the film directed by James Mangoldwhich chronicles Dylan’s controversial switch from acoustic to electric guitar in the mid-’60s.

Chalamet learned to play 30 songs in preparation for the roletaking lessons with a vocal coach, guitar teacher, dialect coach, movement coach, and even a harmonica tutor.

“A movie about me called A Complete Stranger (what a title!) will be released soon,” the musician began.

“Timothee Chalamet is the protagonist. Timmy is a brilliant actor, so I’m sure he’ll be completely believable as me. Or as a younger me. Or like another me”.

Dylan continued: “The film is taken from Elijah Wald’s Dylan Goes Electric, a book that came out in 2015. It’s a fantastic retelling of the events of the early ’60s that led to the Newport fiasco. After watching the movie, read the book.”

Chalamet responded to the praise by quoting Dylan’s post on Twitter: “I am stunned. I am very grateful. Thanks, Bob.”.
