Touring is a huge strain for Charli xcx – physically and emotionally. The singer explained this in an interview.
Singer Charli xcx (32) has had the most successful year of her career with her album “Brat” and her “Sweat” tour – but also probably the most strenuous. And that’s obviously having an impact on her health: “I find going on tour really emotionally difficult,” the pop star said.
“I find the stage – especially at the moment – to be a very angry place for me,” the singer continued. “I’ve done a lot of damage to my body through my performances, and I’m often in a lot of pain when I perform. I have nerve damage in my neck from things I’ve done on stage.” In order to give a performance that feels “good enough,” she has to “throw herself around really physically,” she says, summing up: “It’s a vicious circle.”
The best memories of this year’s tour, which she completed together with pop star Troye Sivan (29), are not those on stage. “Our days off were my fondest memories. We became a little, sweet family during this tour,” explains the singer. Sivan ensured that the tour would be “less of an emotional struggle”.
2024 was Charli xcx’s year of success
Charli xcx first collaborated with Troye Sivan in 2018 on the song “1999” and a few months later on the track “2099”. In April 2024, the two announced their joint “Sweat” tour of North America, having each released a new album in the previous months. The duo played their first concert on September 14th in Detroit, and the tour ended in Seattle on October 23rd.
With her album “Brat”, Charli xcx not only provided the soundtrack of the summer, but also the color trend of the year: bright “Brat” green. Released in June, the album became a top 10 album worldwide and sparked a cultural trend dubbed “Brat Summer.”
