Angelina Jolie: Barefoot appearance at Jimmy Fallon

Angelina Jolie (49) surprised with one detail on her first talk show appearance in a decade: she wasn’t wearing shoes. The actress promoted her new film “Maria” on the “Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon (50) on Thursday. She entered the stage in an elegant black dress, with her hair down – and bare feet.

Not just in the comments for irritation. The moderator also immediately asked whether the actress had forgotten her shoes. However, the unusual fashion statement was due to an injury: “I broke my toe yesterday and I was trying to find comfortable shoes but then I just decided not to wear them.”

Jolie also admitted to not feeling comfortable in front of the camera on the show. “By the way, I get very nervous on talk shows,” she said. “I feel very uncomfortable and I haven’t done one in ten years. It’s not my thing at all.”

As the conversation continued, Jolie also talked about her children Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), Knox and Vivienne (both 16). None of them currently show any interest in being in front of the camera. “I think some of them want to work behind the scenes, but they really, really want – especially Shiloh – to have their privacy,” Jolie said.

In her new film, a biopic of Pablo Larrain (48), Jolie plays the opera singer Maria Callas (1923-1977). The film has already received minutes of standing applause at the Venice International Film Festival and the Telluride Film Festival.
