Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” ends in Vancouver – after almost two years. With more than ten million tickets sold, it is the highest-grossing tour of all time.
Taylor Swift’s monumental “Eras Tour” ends this weekend after nearly two years with a sold-out stadium performance in the Canadian city of Vancouver. The concert series is estimated to have grossed well over $2 billion with more than ten million tickets sold, making it the highest-grossing tour in history and cementing Swift’s status as one of the most influential figures in modern music. She was already a superstar before that, and the “Eras Tour” further fueled the euphoria.
Since March 2023, Swift has been on stage at around 150 concerts on five continents and performed the best songs from her 18-year career in three-hour shows in elaborate costumes. Fans traveled specifically for this purpose, stayed in hotels, visited restaurants and thus stimulated the local economy. According to media reports, the tour could have contributed ten billion dollars in the USA alone.
In Germany, Swift played seven concerts in Gelsenkirchen, Munich and Hamburg, which sold out within minutes. Three concerts planned in Vienna were canceled following the arrest of two terror suspects.
In addition to the economic impact, the “Eras Tour” sparked phenomena such as “Taylor-gating,” in which thousands of fans gathered near venues in the heat and rain without tickets to celebrate the event, singing and exchanging friendship bracelets. Dancing and jumping fans made the ground vibrate.
Fans look back on unforgettable moments like a piano playing on its own due to rain damage or the appearance of Swift’s partner, football star Travis Kelce, at a concert in London. He carried the 34-year-old across the stage. At a concert in Los Angeles, during her hit “22”, she gave her iconic black hat to Bianka Bryant, the daughter of basketball legend Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in 2020.
According to media reports, Kelce will not be there at her last show on Sunday evening. Her fans are planning to sing “Happy Birthday” to Swift – a few days before she turns 35 on December 13th.
