The Argentine pilot Franco Colapinto ended its historic participation in the 2024 season of Formula 1in what was the return of a national representative in the premier category of motorsport after 23 years.

Colapinto debuted at the Italian GP, in Monza, with a twelfth place. He quickly stood out among the drivers and the public, with that historic eighth place in Azerbaijan and that spectacular maneuver at the start of Singaporewhere he passed three rivals.

In addition to the four points he added for eighth place in Azerbaijan, Colapinto accumulated another point in the championship (he finished 19th) for the tenth place obtained in the United States.

This made it sound loud at Red Bull and Alpinewhich excited Argentine fans about the possibility of seeing it in 2025.

But in the last few grand prix he had a large number of accidents that overshadowed this ambitious start. To this it had to be added that at Red Bull they would prioritize the drivers from their academylike the New Zealander Liam Lawson and the Frenchman Isack Hadjar, in addition to Next year Alpine will have the Frenchman Pierre Gasly and the Australian Jack Doohan.

These movements would leave Colapinto without a seat in 2025since his Williams team had confirmed the Thai Alexander Albon and the Spanish Carlos Sainz Jr. for the next campaign.

Unless there is some pleasant last-minute surprise, Colapinto will not continue in Formula 1 at least in the 2025year in which it would be test driver at Williams.

However, these races served to show himself and Next year it will be taken into account as one of the main options to reinforce several teams no later than 2026.

This is how Colapinto finished in each race he competed this year:

  • Italy: 12th
  • Azerbaijan: 8th
  • Singapore: 11th
  • United States: 10th (12th in the Sprint)
  • Mexico: 12th
  • Brazil: abandoned (12th in the Sprint)
  • Las Vegas: 14th
  • Qatar: abandoned (18th in the Sprint)
  • Abu Dhabi: dropped out
