Celeste Cid He made a complaint of harassment public on his networks. On Instagram he revealed that a man has been sending her threatening messages, photos and videos since she was 15 years old.
“This is an anti-panic button,” he showed on his networks.
In a series of posts, he recounted his ordeal: “When I was 15 I started receiving gifts at my workplace: boxes with photos of me cut out of magazines along with dozens of used condoms, and many letters.”
“Time passed and social networks brought back this person, who Not only did he not stop writing to me in every way he could find, but he also did it with my family, my friends, acquaintances. and co-workers,” he said.
“Given the blocks we had to resort to – the repeated accounts that this person kept opening – the volume began to change and the harassment and threats became stronger,” he continued.
In another story, he told how this person introduced himself to him in Uruguay, where he has nothing that would stop him from approaching her, unlike in Argentina where there is a perimeter.
“This is the second anti-panic button I have, because this person showed up at the Uruguay Book Fair (where I was almost 2 months ago), and being outside of Argentina (where he has a perimeter fence and can’t get close) “He had the clarity of whether to do it there, where the perimeter has no reach,” he explained.
“Luckily the police were able to recognize him and stop him before he reached the room where I was presenting my book.. We are waiting for a judge to see the seriousness of the behavior that this person has maintained for more than 20 years. Today, it already makes me afraid. “I cannot ignore their threats,” he said.

Celeste Cid’s questioning of Justice
Cid questioned the treatment of Justice in cases of harassment: “Yesterday I thought: why do I end up with the feeling of being the one who is ‘locked in’, with an anti-panic button and a police officer at the door of my house taking care of me? the threats? Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Me walking calmly down the street, coming and going, and him receiving the appropriate treatment?”
“I am left with this feeling, that of a system that with its laws and times continues to put women in a zone of confinement, and people who need mental health support: in a zone of abandonment,” she reflected.
