Find out what the new tax reported by the agency is and what you can do to avoid its collection.

The Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) announced the implementation of a new tax that will come into effect starting this month. It is aimed at bank transfers with the aim of reinforcing fiscal control and obtaining greater control over foreign operations.

Since taking office as President of the Nation, Javier Milei implemented several changes when carrying out banking transactions. In this case, those who do not meet certain requirements, the former Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) may retain an amount of up to 5% of the transfers the user receives.

Transfers: ARCA will charge withholdings if you do not comply with this requirement

In order for the organization not to charge users this extra amount, they must be registered in the ARCA tax regimes and present your sworn statements of income within the established time. For those who comply with these, the usual percentage will be 1.5%, but for those who do not, the former AFIP may charge up to 5% of Gross Income.

How to avoid ARCA’s extra charge for transfers

To avoid this cost, taxpayers should be vigilant and take preventive measures, such as consulting with specialized people to verify the fiscal status of each one and regularize the registration to the ARCA systems. This ensures that transfers are not classified as undeclared activities, so the tax will be lower.

On the other hand, the agency advises notifying the bank sufficiently in advance if the transfer is not for commercial purposessince it helps financial institutions to correctly classify operations, which will also reduce the risk of penalties. If the transfers are between your own accounts, it is recommended to confirm the registration of both with the same name to avoid possible errors.

The most important thing is that to avoid problems with ARCA lies in the profile that the entities with which you operate have and that the transfers make sense with it. Furthermore, it is advisable to have the supporting documentation in case you have any problems or an error has arisen.
