Starting this Wednesday, the Argentine tourists that enter the Uruguay They will have a new payment facility in the national territory, after a regional fintech enabled payments for goods and services via QR in the country.

This season, Uruguayan merchants and sellers will be able to charge Argentines using the app’s QR Payment Market from its Argentine account, as announced by the company itself. The new facility aims to streamline transactions and become a familiar option for those who use it every day in the Argentina.

In turn, national sellers will be able to add a new collection tool from this summer 2024-2025, something that will allow them to offer their products more easily to foreigners.

With the new implementation, Argentine users will be able to make their purchases in this way in some 50,000 Uruguayan stores in a 100% digital way, without the need to have to look for ATMs or go to exchange houses to purchase Uruguayan pesos dollars.

Likewise, during this first stage, Argentines will be able to choose to pay with any card they have previously loaded into their personal account. In addition, Argentines will be able to access other benefits this summer, such as a 100% refund of VAT in gastronomic services and car rental, according to law 18,999.

In UruguayMercado Pago has a total of 80,000 sellers, of which some 50,000 already accept payments by QR code, which have been a reality in the country since September.
