Angelina Jolie took extensive singing lessons for her role as opera singer Maria Callas. In the interview she describes why she lost her voice for a long time.
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie says she had to rediscover her singing voice after losses and injuries. “I didn’t know how much I had lost my voice,” said the 49-year-old to fellow actor Cynthia Erivo in an interview for the US magazine “Variety”. “Maybe when I lost my mother, maybe when someone hurt me.”
Jolie’s mother Marcheline Bertrand died of cancer in 2007 at the age of 56. Jolie said it was an emotional experience for her to start singing again for the biopic “Maria”. “Finding your own voice again and letting it out was a feeling that I wish for everyone,” said the Oscar winner (“Crazy”).
