Taylor Swift is the new record holder of the Billboard Music Awards. On Thursday she won ten more awards.
There is currently no stopping Taylor Swift (35): The singer reached a historic milestone at the Billboard Music Awards on Thursday evening. With ten additional awards, she is now the most decorated artist in the history of the prestigious awards ceremony. , Swift has won a total of 49 awards in her career to date.
The previous record was 39 awards, which Swift previously shared with her colleague Drake (38). Of the 17 nominations, the “Anti-Hero” interpreter was now able to convert ten into trophies, including the important award for best female artist.
Swift’s joy at the historic triumph was clearly noticeable: “This is the best early birthday present anyone could have given me. It’s exactly what I wanted,” the newly crowned 35-year-old cheered. Swift celebrates her birthday on December 13th.
More winners of the evening
Other artists also had reason to be happy at the award ceremony: Country newcomer Zach Bryan (28), who topped the list with 21 nominations, was pleased to receive five awards. With three more awards, Drake expanded his second place in the all-time best list to 42 awards. The Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny (30) also received three trophies, while K-pop star Jung Kook (27), shooting star Benson Boone (22) and newcomer Tyla (22), among others, took home two awards each.
Second biggest pop star of the century
The latest triumph fits seamlessly into Swift’s impressive success story. Shortly before the award ceremony, “Billboard” magazine had already named her the second biggest pop star of the 21st century – only Beyoncé (43) is ahead of her. “After pivoting from country music to pop music in the early 2010s, Taylor Swift has achieved success the likes of which we have never seen before, in either shape or size”, .
What is particularly noteworthy is the fact that despite her late entry into pop music, Swift was able to rise to become “one of the biggest undisputed pop stars in the world”. In the prestigious list, she landed ahead of superstars like Rihanna (36) and Drake, who took third and fourth place.
