Buckingham Palace employees’ Christmas party turns into a fight
A Buckingham Palace employee was so freaked out at a Christmas party that a physical altercation broke out. Finally the police had to come.
A Christmas party for Buckingham Palace employees has turned into a massive brawl. As the police in the British capital announced on Friday, they ultimately had to intervene in the celebration in a bar within walking distance of the royal residence. A woman was arrested. She broke glasses and tried to attack a bar employee. The celebration in the bar took place on Tuesday after an official event at the palace.
“We are aware of an off-the-job incident involving several household staff who had previously attended an early evening reception at the palace,” a palace spokesman said. It was an informal gathering in the bar, “not an official palace Christmas party.” The incident is being investigated and there will be “robust disciplinary action.”
Chambermaid freaks out at Christmas party
According to the tabloid “The Sun”, around 50 palace employees took part in the bar celebration. This degenerated into “chaos” and the 24-year-old chambermaid “got out of control”. According to police, the woman was arrested on suspicion of bodily harm, property damage and drunkenness. She was released the next day.
Buckingham Palace is the official residence of King Charles III.
