Creative choice of name for the offspring: In 2024, some celebrities have surprised again with unusual baby names.
Brother, Hurricane, Poetry – all of these babies were born this year. Their celebrity parents gave them quite unconventional names. In 2024, the stars’ creativity knew no bounds when it came to the names of their children. Here are the most unusual baby names that have been the talk of the town.
“Yes, his first name is really Brother”
The choice of “Glee” star Darren Criss (37) and wife Mia Swier (39) was particularly hotly debated this year. After their daughter Bluesy (2), they had their first son in June 2024 and called him Brother László. “Yes, his first name is really Brother,” the actor wrote. His fans weren’t necessarily thrilled with his choice of name, as could be read in the comments.
Actress Halle Bailey (24) and her now ex-boyfriend DDG (27) also decided on a name that is also a normal word. Their son, born in January, is called Halo, which translates to halo. “Too Hot To Handle” star Francesca Farago (31) gave her children extremely romantic names: her twins were born in November and are called Poetry Lucia and Locket Romance – i.e. Poetry and Locket Romance. DJ David Guetta (57) is rather simple with the color name cyan for his son, who was born in March.
Have the actors Adam DeVine (41), Cameron Diaz (52) and Josh Duhamel (52) already determined the future of their children with their names? The son of the “Pitch Perfect” actor and his wife, born in March, is called Beau, i.e. pretty boy. Diaz and her husband Benji Madden (45) chose the divine name Cardinal for baby number two. Josh Duhamel named his January baby Shepherd Lawrence. As a shepherd, his son would have the best chances on the job market.
Justin (30) and Hailey Bieber (27) gave their son, who was born in October, the usual first name Jack – but the middle name Blues allows conclusions to be drawn about his father’s musical connection.
The fact that Philipp Plein (46) has a penchant for unusual baby names is nothing new. His sons are called Romeo Prince, Halo Ocean and Rouge Sky Galaxy – and now also Hurricane Thor Thunder (German: Hurricane Thor Donner). It is not known what connects the designer with the God of Thunder.
“High School Musical” star Ashley Tisdale (39) likes natural names. She gave her daughter Jupiter (3) the middle name Iris (German: Iris), and her daughter, born in September, is called Emerson Clover (German: Klee). Colleague Hilary Duff (37) chose the entire meadow for the name of her child. Their daughter was born in May and is named Townes Meadow Bair.
Short names are also in trend
It has become a rarity for celebrity children to only have one first name. But there are also stars who prefer short names. Actress Hilary Swank (50) named her twins Aya and Ohm, who were born in March. Gal Gadot’s (39) daughter’s name is Ori. “You have brought so much light into our lives and lived up to your name Ori, which means ‘my light’ in Hebrew,” the Israeli actress explained the meaning
Olivia Munn (44) and her husband welcomed little Méi June in September. “Méi (pronounced May) means plum in Chinese,” the presenter explains the first name and also refers to her baby as “my little plum”. The daughter of actor Johnny Galecki (49) also got a shorter first name, Oona Evelena, as did Caius Chai, the newborn son of basketball player Stephen Curry (36).
By the way, Jennifer Lawrence (34), Megan Fox (38) and Machine Gun Kelly (34) as well as Milo Ventimiglia (47) are expecting offspring next year – so you can certainly look forward to more unusual baby names.
