Strange statements about his sexuality

Robbie Williams has made bizarre statements about his sexuality and marriage in a new interview.
Around 20 years ago, Robbie Williams (50) sued a British tabloid after it reported on an alleged secret lover – and he won in court. Now, in an interview, the singer looks back on the rumors surrounding his sexuality at the time and makes some bizarre statements in this context.
“I was annoyed. I was mostly sad,” says Williams. However, not directly based on the claims. “Honestly, you’ve probably never met anyone who would like to be gay as much as I do,” claims the 50-year-old and then makes a somewhat oblique comparison to football: “I’m a Port Vale fan and that’s like someone would say: ‘You’re a Liverpool fan.’ And I say: ‘No I’m not, I’m a Port Vale fan.’ If someone says you’re a Liverpool fan a hundred times, it’s like saying, ‘I’m not a bloody Liverpool fan, why do people think I’m a Liverpool fan?'”
His wife, the “Beard”
He returns to the topic later in the interview and says: “You want to be an ally and at the same time protect your own authenticity and your own life.” Who would stop him from becoming intimate with a man if he wanted to? “About my wife?” asks Williams. He calls her a “beard,” a term sometimes used in English that can describe a person who is supposed to hide another person’s sexual orientation or true identity. How exactly Williams’ statements in the interview should be understood is not clear.
Robbie Williams has been in a relationship with American actress Ayda Field (45) since 2006 and has been married to her since 2010. The couple has four children together, two daughters (born in 2012 and 2018) and two sons (born in 2014 and 2020).
