The founder of the textile company Mango, and the richest man in Catalonia, Isak Andic He lost his life this Saturday in a mountain accident. The incident occurred after falling down a ravine. He was accompanied by his son and his wife when he slipped on one of the paths and fell from a great height.
The tragic situation occurred in the Barcelona town of Collbató, where the Catalan police moved after receiving the notice at 12:45 (local time). Citizen security patrols, Generalitat Firefighters, SEM and mountain units arrived at the scene.
The CEO of the company, Tony Ruizdeclared in a note to EFE: “It is with deep regret that we regret to announce the unexpected death of Isak Andicour non-executive chairman and founder of Mango, in an accident that occurred this Saturday.”

Regarding the event, he also spoke president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa: “Dismayed by the loss of Isak Andic, a committed businessman who, with his leadership, has contributed to making Catalonia great and projecting it to the world. He leaves an indelible mark on the Catalan and global fashion sector. My condolences and that of the entire Government to family, friends and the Mango team,” he said in a message on X.
About the Mango group
The Mango company is one of the main textile groups founded in Spain and Its founder Isak Andic is inseparable from history. Of Sephardic origin and settled in Türkiye, Andic’s family arrived in Spain when he was 14 years old, after losing his business in Istanbul due to political and military tensions.
In Barcelona he found a new beginning, where he made his way selling embroidered shirts imported from the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.. It was a profitable formula: buy clothes in Türkiye and sell them in markets in Barcelona.
After a considerable capital accumulation, Andic established its first store on Paseo de Gracia number 38 in Barcelona, one of the most prestigious streets in the city. It was the year 1984, the same year in which the Mango brand was born..
