No Christmas appearance for Prince Andrew?

Prince Andrew is embroiled in a scandal involving a suspected spy. Will he still show himself to the royal fans at Christmas?

King Charles (76) is said to be angry that Prince Andrew (64) has once again involved the royals in a scandal. It therefore seems questionable whether the Duke of York will be allowed to appear publicly with the monarch at Christmas. Andrew could be banned from attending church with the royal family at Christmas, The reason for the renewed uproar surrounding the king’s brother: his alleged links to a “Chinese spy”.

Prince Andrew has only taken part in the royals’ public walk to the Christmas service since Charles became monarch following the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). Because of his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (1953-2019), Prince Andrew had to step down from his royal duties and is rarely seen in public.

Is Prince Andrew coming to Sandringham?

The king is now said to be “really upset” about his brother’s new scandal. Royal expert Jennie Bond (74) told the Mirror: “It’s hard to imagine that the Duke will have the nerve to show himself in front of the loyal crowd at Christmas.”

She added that Prince Andrew should spend time away from Sandringham for the good of the monarchy. The royal family traditionally celebrates Christmas on the royal estate. The monarch’s brother has become “a recurring embarrassment” to the royal family and “now he is implicated in a possible threat to national security,” Bond said.

That’s what the new scandal is about

There had previously been reports that a suspected Chinese spy allegedly wanted to take advantage of the royal’s influence as his confidant. Andrew’s office said he had broken off contact with the businessman, whose real name is not publicly known.

A court recently confirmed a previously imposed entry ban against the man named H6. According to a report by the British BBC, the suspected spy was so close to Andrew that he was invited to the prince’s birthday party in 2020. The man was able to build an “unusual level of trust” and was described as a “close confidante” of Andrew.

A statement from the Duke of York’s office, quoted by Sky News, said Andrew followed government advice “and ended all contact with the individual after concerns were raised.” There was also no exchange of important information.
