Nicola Coughlan showed a lot of skin in the current “Bridgerton” season. This triggered a clear reaction from her mother.
In the last third season of “Bridgerton,” Irish actress Nicola Coughlan (37) was at the center of the story. Finally, the character she played, Penelope, got closer to Luke Newton’s (31) Colin Bridgerton over the course of the new episodes, which also led to some memorable love and sex scenes. Coughlan was celebrated by the global “Bridgerton” fan base for her game. Only one person clearly didn’t like it: her mother. The 37-year-old revealed this out loud on the “Graham Norton Show” a few days ago.
“Bridgerton” star got in trouble for sex scenes
“My mother was so angry with me about these scenes – like they were my fault,” she said at the appearance. Even before the start of season three, Coughlan revealed to the radio station SiriusXM Hits 1 in April of this year that she had received an alternative, adult cut of the season from Netflix so that she could present it to her family. However, her mother has apparently seen the material published on Netflix in the meantime.
What is already known about season four of the Netflix series
Coughlan will be back in the already confirmed fourth season of “Bridgerton,” but no longer as the central protagonist. This time it’s instead about Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson, 36) search for true love. The Australian actress Yerin Ha (29) has already been cast as his future love interest Sophie. Former “Harry Potter” star Katie Leung (37) is also part of the cast. Leung, who played Ravenclaw student Cho Chang in the novel adaptation, will play Sophie’s stepmother Lady Araminta Gun in “Bridgerton.”
However, Coughlan and Newton will remain in the Netflix series in season four. They have already confirmed their return during promo appearances for the episodes released in the summer.
