Heir to the throne Prince William lets the arrows fly: a new clip shows him casually playing darts alongside a TV star.
With a casual appearance over beer and darts, Prince William drew attention to his new environmental documentary “The Earthshot Report”, which was shown on BBC1 on Saturday evening. In one from Kensington Palace, he received actress Hannah Waddingham at Alexandra Palace in north London, where the World Darts Championship started on December 15th. Waddingham moderates the documentary that the heir to the throne is promoting. The two then dared to play a little game together.
Prince William: Memories of his student days
“Welcome to my palace,” said “Ted Lasso” star Waddingham as the prince arrived at the venue, which also hosted his first Earthshot awards ceremony of 2021. “What a wonderful palace this is,” replied William. Dressed in plastic-free sneakers from British brand Hevea, , and a casual blue sweater, the father-of-three looked completely relaxed. The nine-minute clip shows him not only playing darts, but also sipping a pint at the bar.

In fact, the game seemed to bring back memories of his student days at St Andrews University, where, as he previously admitted, he played darts regularly. “Let’s not start a drinking game, otherwise we’ll be doing it here all day,” the prince joked.
He talks to his three children about environmental protection “all the time.”
Then it was about the sustainability award he created, which is also discussed in the documentary moderated by Waddingham. “It was launched in 2021 to support people whose innovations are helping to repair our planet.” One must “try to deal with climate change positively and not negatively”.
From number girl to duchess: This is how Meghan has changed over the years
Before Meghan Markle got a taste of Hollywood air and later became a duchess, she had to start small on TV in 2006: as a number girl on the game show “Deal or No Deal”. An experience she later looked back on with mixed feelings. “I was grateful for the job, but not for how it made me feel. Namely… not smart. By the way, I was surrounded by smart women who were on stage with me,” she said on an episode of her podcast “Archetypes”. “But that wasn’t the reason we were there. And at the end I went home with a sinking feeling in my stomach because I knew I was so much more than what was being objectified on stage.”

In conversation with Waddingham, whom he has known for years, he also gave some private insights. The topic is constantly present in his home: “I talk to my children about it all the time. It’s important that they see, touch, feel and experience nature. It’s difficult for everyone to understand why Should protect you if you’ve never used it.” However, he did not want to give sermons. “I want to find solutions.”
Waiting for the Christmas card
Posting on the heir to the throne couple’s official Instagram page, many royal fans were thrilled to see William so relaxed and laughing. However, some were also disappointed because they had hoped that the eldest son of King Charles III. and his family will finally release their official Christmas card. But there is still a bit of time: While the card was released on December 9th last year, it only happened on December 18th in 2015 and 2017.
