First diagnosis for the hospitalized Max George: The singer of the band The Wanted suffers from severe cardiac arrhythmias.

Max George (36) gave his fans an update about his health on Instagram. The musician from the British band The Wanted was hospitalized three days ago due to heart problems. “Unfortunately, my heart rate has not increased at all for almost a week,” he shared on December 16. The musician also posted pictures showing him connected to countless cables in the hospital.

George had CT scans and numerous other tests – “something I wouldn’t do again!” – received an initial diagnosis: he was suffering from a 2:1 atrioventricular block. In this cardiac arrhythmia, the transmission of impulses from the atria to the ventricles is interrupted.

Surgery quicker than expected

Since his heart rate is not improving, Max George will probably need surgery “much quicker than the doctors first thought.” Perhaps, contrary to expectations, he could spend the Christmas holidays at home again. However, there are currently difficulties in finding the cause of the block. Only when this has been found can a decision be made as to whether he needs to have a pacemaker, a defibrillator or another aid inserted.

“It’s still a pretty scary time and the last few nights have been really tough,” George continued in a caption. He is currently given strength by the support of his loved ones, but also his fans. “It gave me a much-needed boost and my family has been overwhelmed with support, which means more to me than anything else,” he said.

Max George is a member of the British boy band The Wanted. The band enjoyed great success in the 2010s with hits like “All Time Low” and “Glad You Came.” She has been taking a break since 2014. In 2022, one of the five band members, Tom Parker (1988-2922), died of a brain tumor at the age of just 33.
