The Buenos Aires Minister of Security referred to the perpetrators of two crimes that occurred in the city of Buenos Aires in the last few hours. “We do not persecute foreigners, we persecute criminals,” he said.

The Buenos Aires Minister of Security, Waldo Wolffmaintained that “foreigners who come to steal” will be “expelled”thus ratifying the policy that the City Government regarding deporting criminals who do not have Argentine nationality.

These statements arise after two operations: one in the neighborhood of Boedo and another in Belgrano. In the first case, the City Police arrested a foreign couple and in the second, three Colombians who They robbed houses when their owners left and Wolff said that “they are already in the hands of Justice.”

“Today we have more than 400 foreign detainees. One in five detainees in the City are foreigners. 38% of the homicides committed last year were at the hands of foreigners. Thanks to the joint work we carry out with the Justice and Migrationswe were able to accelerate the expulsion processes from the country,” he stated from his personal account on the social network X.

Regarding the criminal act that occurred in Belgrano (at 2600 Montañeses Street), the Minister of Security reported that, together with the Buenos Aires security forces, “they saw them, pursued them and detained them” and clarified: “The City of Buenos Aires is open to anyone who wants to come to work, study or go for a walk. We do not persecute foreigners, we persecute criminals“.

Regarding the events that occurred in Boedo, he declared that the detained couple used “a signal inhibitor” to steal belongings from vehicles that were parked in the vicinity of a school in that neighborhood: “They believed that, due to the movement of people, no one I was going to see them. With our cameras we detected them at the moment and went to look for them,” he explained.

“Thus, we guarantee compliance with sentences and free our police officers so that they can concentrate on taking care of the streets. More autonomy is also more security,” he concluded.
