Mette-Marit doesn’t have to testify to the police – lawyer reacts irritated

In the Marius Borg Høiby case, the police decided not to question Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The decision is surprising.

Norwegian police will not question Crown Princess Mette-Marit as a witness in the trial against her son Marius Borg Høiby. “In the opinion of the public prosecutor’s office, based on the investigations to date, there is currently no need,” explained Kruszewski. They also report on this decision.

The decision comes as a surprise to many observers. According to consistent media reports, Mette-Marit may have even warned her son before his first arrest and, according to rumors, also cleaned up his apartment. In addition, according to Norwegian media, she may have known about his problematic behavior for a long time.

Serious allegations against the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit

Petter Grødem, the lawyer for an alleged victim, was irritated by the investigators’ decision. “I’m surprised. Normally a request to interview witnesses is granted,” he told TV2. During her interrogation, his client mentioned a text message to the Crown Princess in which she reported Borg Høiby’s aggressive behavior. This message was never answered.

27-year-old Borg Høiby is charged with physical and psychological violence against three ex-girlfriends. He is also accused of two counts of rape. The Crown Princess’ son denies the allegations. According to his defense attorney, he is currently in a London rehab clinic after a short pre-trial detention to deal with his drug addiction.

No current statement from the royal family

The Norwegian royal family has not yet responded to inquiries about the current decision. The investigations against Borg Høiby are causing a stir in Norway. The 27-year-old has lived largely in seclusion for many years and is not part of the official royal family. He is also not the son of Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, but comes from Mette-Marit’s previous relationship.
