Rocky road to the second desired child

Annemarie Eilfeld desperately wants a second child. However, her illness from PCOS syndrome stands in the way of this dream.
Annemarie Eilfeld (34) has been the mother of a small son since August 2022. The pop singer and her partner Tim Sandt (34) had to fight for a long time to get pregnant because of their PCOS syndrome. The hormonal disorder causes impaired egg maturation and makes it difficult for those affected to become pregnant. That’s why things don’t work out with the second child either, she reports.
The birth of her son Elian was still “a miracle” for her a year and a half later. Due to PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), her cycle is 40 to 42 days, and medication regulates her ovulation to 33 days. “We don’t want to put pressure on ourselves, but we’re fighting for our second chance,” said the 2009 “DSDS” candidate. “Precisely because the side effects of the medication and the six dietary supplements make everything more difficult.”

Despite the difficulties, artificial insemination is out of the question for Eilfeld and Sandt, who have been in a relationship since 2017. “We don’t want to buy a baby,” emphasizes the musician in the interview. A fertility clinic where you pay 10,000 euros per artificial insemination attempt is therefore “not an option” for the couple.
Polycystic ovary syndrome occurs in five to ten percent of women of childbearing age and prevents regular ovulation. The symptoms are different for everyone affected. “For me it’s weight gain, acne, mood swings and hair loss, among other things,” says Annemarie Eilfeld about her illness.
