Richard Lugner’s grave was vandalized. His widow Simone Lugner confirmed this. Who is behind it is not known.

Entrepreneur and society star Richard “Mörtel” Lugner (1932-2024) died on August 12th in his villa in Vienna-Döbling at the age of 91. Widow Simone Lugner (42) had hoped that she could now find some peace after the sad months. But an incident at Richard Lugner’s grave has now shaken her up.

“Who does something like that?”

The building contractor’s resting place in the Grinzinger Friedhof in Vienna’s 19th district was devastated. Among other things, a wedding photo of the couple was torn up and the picture frame was destroyed. “I was shocked, I immediately felt completely different, a really bad feeling in my stomach, in my whole body,” explained Simone Lugner about the incident. “For God’s sake, who does something like that? It must have been done by a really sick person.” Luckily, the rest of the decorations and grave decorations were still in order, she continued. “It was really just an attack against me. It’s terrible that there are people who do things like that.”

It couldn’t have been anyone her family knew. “We don’t know such disturbed people!” According to “Bild”, Lugner also found a plastic box with a strange message at the grave, which Lugner perceives as a threat. On Monday she was initially in severe shock. “In the evening I thought to myself: ‘What kind of disturbed person does something like that?’ I will file criminal charges against unknown persons.”

After all the trouble of the last few months, she hoped that there would only be positive news in the near future. She is currently training for “Dancing Stars”, the Austrian version of the RTL dance show “Let’s Dance”. “And now something so unbelievable is happening again.”

The actual funeral of Richard Lugner, who married six times, most recently in June 2024, took place after a public memorial service at the end of August in the closest circle of family and friends. After another private funeral service in the Kaasgraben Church, he found his final resting place in a crypt at the Grinzinger Friedhof in Vienna-Döbling.
