All I want for Christmas is – an autograph from Mariah Carey! That’s what Rihanna probably thought on Tuesday evening.
Mariah Carey (55) has returned to the stage after suffering from the flu. On Tuesday, December 17th, she was able to give the last concert of her Christmas tour as planned at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. A number of celebrities also came along – such as colleague Rihanna (36).
She apparently received a special souvenir from the “Queen of Christmas”: Mariah Carey signed Rihanna’s chest. The “Umbrella” singer, who was wearing sunglasses and a fluffy light brown jacket, is said to have cheered into a camera: “Mariah Carey is signing my tit.”
Three concerts were canceled
Previously, Carey, who once again conquered the pre-Christmas charts this year with her hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” had to cancel three shows. She caught the flu in her peak season of all times. “Pittsburgh, unfortunately I have to say that I caught the flu. It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel the show tonight. I love you all so much,” the 55-year-old wrote on December 11th X (formerly Twitter). Two days later she announced that she had to cancel two more shows. “Newark and Belmont – I wish I had better news, but unfortunately I’m still sick and have to cancel the shows tonight and Sunday,” she also told X.
But on December 16, the star announced the Christmas miracle to her fans in the form of her farewell concert: “Thank you for making my holiday season so special,” Carey posted. “I loved singing with you every night and I can’t wait to see you all tomorrow in Brooklyn for the last show of the tour.”
Flowers for Billboard success
After first announcing her 20-date tour in August, she played the first gig of her “Christmas Time” tour in Highland, California on November 6th. At her Dec. 9 show in Raleigh, North Carolina, she celebrated “All I Want For Christmas Is You” returning to number one on the US Billboard charts, 30 years after its release. Her twins Monroe and Moroccan (13) surprised her with flowers on stage to accompany the news.
