Ariana Grande: With mom Joan on the red carpet

It is supposed to be the highlight of her career for now: Singer and actress Ariana Grande (31) wants to take home a Golden Globe on January 5th. The petite superstar is nominated for best supporting actress for her role as Glinda in the first part of the musical adaptation “Wicked.” On Tuesday, Grande and her mother Joan (67) warmed up to the big event. At a lunch for Golden Globe novices, mother and daughter looked chic and stylish.

Artists who are nominated for the Golden Globe for the first time were invited to a delicious lunch. The mother-daughter duo posed in perfectly contrasting colors on the red carpet in Beverly Hills. Ariana wore a sleeveless satin dress in a champagne shade. A belt curved around the waist and color-coordinated pumps added additional accents. Her mother Joan, a successful business woman and producer, was in no way inferior to her daughter in terms of style in a black coat dress combined with dark trousers and boots. Both offered a harmonious picture in obvious anticipation of the upcoming Golden Globes, which will also be awarded in Beverly Hills.

Ariana Grande and her mother have always been a dream team. Joan once told “People” magazine about the very private beginnings of her daughter’s global career. Little Ariana was “probably three or three and a half” when her mother got a taste of her singing talent for the first time. “Ariana was sitting in her car seat while I was driving listening to an NSYNC song. Ariana hit one of singer JC Chasez’s high notes so perfectly that I stopped the car and asked her, ‘Ariana, was that you?’ She didn’t know it was special. She thought everyone sounded like that,” Joan said, laughing.

A few years later, Grande finally made a splash at the Grammy Awards, winning for her album “Sweetener” in 2019 and for her duet with Lady Gaga “Rain on Me” in 2021. In 2020 she was nominated for her album “Positions” and was accompanied by her mother at the time. She saw her daughter afterwards with completely different and widely shining eyes: “I’m so proud of my daughter, for a million reasons…” With 98 billion streams, Grande is now one of the world’s most streamed artists of all time.

But Ariana Grande still has a lot to do, not only as a singer but also as a successful actress. In the musical adaptation “Wicked” she plays the good witch Glinda. On Monday, Universal Pictures announced that the second part of the “Wicked” film adaptation will be titled “Wicked: For Good.” It should ensure new box office successes in 2025.
