The month of December is important for province of Buenos Aires because the founding dates of a large number of its municipalities coincide. Therefore, in some of them anniversaries of their birth are celebrated through holidays and activities to remember how they were created. December 22 is important for a particular municipality.
Of the 135 municipalities in the province of Buenos Aires, there are 53 that have their founding anniversaries in the month of December, and among them is Lezama, which celebrates it precisely on December 22so in the town it is a holiday to commemorate and remember the day on which the municipality was created and its origins.
Where and why there would be a holiday on December 22
Lezama’s party is one of the youngest in the Province. It received its autonomy on December 22, 2009. as a split from the Chascomús party. According to the final results of the 2022 census, it has 6,221 inhabitants. It was created by a provincial law passed in the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Province of Buenos Aires.
The initiative was supported by 58 affirmative votes, 20 negative and one abstention. The initiative had the support of the parties Frente para la Victoria, Unión – Pro, Peronismo Federal and the ARI Civic Coalition. While the Radical Civic Union and Gen blocks opposed it. This date was recorded as the birth of the municipality and since then it has been celebrated with a municipal holiday.
