Princess Beatrice celebrates Christmas in Sandringham after all

The question of who among the British royals celebrates Christmas in Sandringham and who doesn’t has rarely been as much in focus as this year. Beatrice is there, contrary to expectations, and has a good reason for it.

The niece of the British King Charles III, Princess Beatrice (36), will now spend Christmas with the royals at the royal country estate Sandringham. This was reported by the British news agency PA, citing unnamed insider sources.

It was previously said that Beatrice, like her sister Princess Eugenie (34), would spend Christmas with her in-laws. She wanted to travel abroad to do this. But according to the report, doctors recommended that the pregnant woman not go on a long journey. It is not known where the celebration was to take place.

45 people are expected at the royal Christmas

Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi already have a three-year-old daughter. Mapelli Mozzi also has an eight-year-old son from a previous relationship. The couple’s second child is due to be born in the spring.

According to PA, 45 people are expected at the royal Christmas party at the extensive country estate in the eastern English county of Norfolk. In addition to the royal couple, heir to the throne Prince William and his wife Princess Kate (both 42) and their children are also expected.

The Royals give presents on Christmas Eve

However, Beatrice and Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew (64), will not be there. The reason for this is probably that he recently found himself in negative headlines again because of his closeness to a suspected Chinese spy. Because of his involvement in the abuse scandal involving US multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019, Andrew has had to largely withdraw from public life.

The Royal Family always goes to church in Sandringham on Christmas Day. Unlike most British families, the royals give presents on Christmas Eve – a tradition they owe to their German ancestors.
