Anna Schudt plays the title role in “Nelly and the Christmas Miracle”. In the interview she tells a few details about her Christmas celebration.
Anna Schudt (50) can be seen in the TV film “Nelly and the Christmas Miracle” (December 22nd, 8:15 p.m., ZDF) as the eponymous parcel delivery person Nelly, who has nothing to do with Christmas. But then a Christmas miracle happens… The actress herself has never experienced anything that comes close to the term. “I’m still waiting for a Christmas miracle. The sleigh with the reindeer hasn’t come by yet,” she says in an interview with spot on news. In contrast to her role, she likes the festival. “The most beautiful thing is when the bell rings and all the candles are burning and everyone gathers around the tree,” enthuses Schudt.
No tussles, no arguments at Christmas
The Emmy award winner and former “Tatort” detective has been married to her fellow actor Moritz Führmann (46) since 2010. She brought a son into the marriage and together they had two more sons.
They don’t have a traditional Christmas dish, but what is served at the family celebration in Düsseldorf on Christmas Eve is very different. “Everyone brings something with them and everyone cooks, that’s the rule for us. It’s important that you know who’s going to cook next, otherwise there’ll be a fight,” says Schudt.
As we all know, it’s not far from a “tussle” to an argument during the holidays. But the artist family knows how to get around this with two clear rules: “We are forbidden to talk about politics at Christmas, which rules out a lot of arguments,” says Schudt. In addition, “everyone is allowed to withdraw when they need to.”
Before the retreat, however, the gift-giving is still on the agenda. To do this, people shop “both online and offline,” “depending on what I find where,” says the Konstanz native pragmatically. Then she reveals a particularly personal detail about the Christmas presents. “Since we all write letters to each other, we first need nice paper.”
Every year during the Christmas season, not only are there new films worth seeing, such as “Nelly and the Christmas Miracle”, but many also swear by one or two Christmas film classics. However, these tend not to work for Schudt, Führmann and their sons. “We watch something new every year because the children have gotten older every year and have developed different interests. We mostly watch Disney or Pixar films. Let’s see what’s going on this year,” she says.
New Year’s Eve without the family
New Year’s Eve is on the calendar a week after Christmas. This time it will be unusual for Schudt. “On New Year’s Eve I have a performance at the Schaubühne, I haven’t had that in ten years, I haven’t celebrated New Year’s Eve at home or with my family, let’s see how it goes,” she says.
All in all, after an “interesting, challenging year,” she is now looking forward to next year. “2025 will be great,” Anna Schudt is certain.
