Wolfgang Bosbach does Secret Santa at Christmas

Ex-politician Wolfgang Bosbach and his family have found a tried and tested way to prevent a flood of gifts on Christmas Eve.
Wolfgang Bosbach (72) relies on Secret Santa at Christmas to keep the number of presents in check. “We weight things,” said the former CDU politician to the German Press Agency. However, the two grandchildren, aged three and one and a half, are excluded from this. “They can be pampered to their heart’s content.”
But for adults, everyone only gives a gift to one other person, so everyone gets a gift. “I don’t know who my Secret Santa is now, but I know who I have to give presents to.” This will prevent a flood of gifts.
“For the Bosbach family, this is still essentially a Christian celebration,” said Bosbach, explaining the arrangement. “Of course you want to make family and friends happy at Christmas, but you don’t want it to get out of hand.”
It doesn’t get more traditional than Bosbachs
Incidentally, Christmas Eve is very traditional in his family. “It couldn’t be more traditional,” he emphasized. “We first attend Christmas mass in Bergisch Gladbach with the whole family in the late afternoon, then the presents are given, and then we go to my mother-in-law, who lives in the house, under the roof. The whole family meets there for Christmas dinner – my mother-in-law is a gifted cook. And then it will be a really nice, contemplative but also cheerful celebration.”
